The orphanage experience I had in Haiti felt like one of those experiences that will stay with you forever. Not because of the facilities or the things we saw but because of the relationships we made. People are what makes things memorable and lasting. While in Haiti we stayed with an amazing host family. A family that has left all the conveniences of the american life to give back to a place they feel called to be. Risking health, convenience and family close by, they set out to help those who are less fortunate. They are not only a huge help to those around them but such a blessing to those who get to stay with them.
They went out of their way to make us feel at home. Brandon caught word that one of the girls couldn’t wait for a diet coke. After a long day we came back to their home to find out that he had made a special trip to the store in search of a diet coke. Then our last day there he awoke at 4:30 am to drive us all back to the airport safe and sound! Nikki spent her whole Sunday afternoon giving us all amazing pedicures! Truly sacrificial and over the top accommodating.
On saturday afternoon I had the privilege of capturing this beautiful family. After cooking for us all week, entertaining us and giving us a place to rest our head I was excited to tell a bit of their story. Here they are. Beautiful inside and out!
