Back to the Dominican

I am so excited to announce that I get to go back to the Dominican this coming Friday. There is a team of 30 of us going this time to do some humanitarian work. We’ll be building a house together in Agua Negra, Dominican. It is a very poor area of the Dominican that used to be the city dump. After the dump closed, people started building houses on the dump. Then there are also a bunch of people on the team that are nurses and dentist. So we will be having a clinic open for a few days for free medical work. I was just there in January but I can’t wait to go back again. The reason for the blog entry is to let you know that I can bring up to 3 suitcases full of supplies to leave with the people there. Here are a few items that they are in need of there.

Medical:

-small baggies, syringes (5 or 10 ml), medicines for cough/cold pain, relief, letter size file folders

Babies/New Moms:

– baby formula, sanitary napkins, soothers, diapers, bottles, blankets

Patient Care items:

– wash cloths, small towels, toothbrush, toothpaste

Children’s Activities:

– play dough, markers, crayons, coloring books, sidewalk chalk, skipping ropes, baseball gloves

Also in the area we are working children’s shoes are in great need. If you have gently used shoes you would like to send along they would be so thankful for them. I will need these items by this Thursday night in order to take them along. Give me a call if you would like to drop something off. 204.918.0184. Every little bit helps them out.

Can’t wait to share some photos with you from the trip.
