I was so excited yesterday to find out that Summer from Greylikesweddings.com decided to feature our 50’s stylized session on her amazing blog! This shoot was so much fun to do and I had the opportunity to work with some fabulous people to make it happen. Their contacts are all below.
I couldn’t wait to share these images with you! Here is a little story behind this session.
She’s so Fly!
The whole idea for this bridal shower started with one of those old black and white photos from the 1950s of a group of smiling girls posing in their swimwear on a beach. Retro-inspired swimsuit styles seem to be everywhere this summer. The whole idea just got us so excited. I mean, who doesn’t like polka-dots and a few ruffles and how often do you hear of a bridal shower happening on a beach? The more we thought about it the more we liked the fun, relaxed setting and the great throw back to an era we all secretly wish we could have experienced…the glamorous hairstyles, the great cars, the red lips… What’s not to love?
No retro-inspired party would be complete without the iconic 1950s car. Our Bride-to-Be arrived in style and had so much fun in the 1956 Mercury Station wagon complete with wood paneling and a surf-board that we borrowed for the occasion. We felt like we were on the set of an Elvis movie, cruising to the beach with the windows down and the radio playing oldies.
The guests–the bathing beauties–were as excited about the theme as we were. The women had donned the most 50’s style swimsuits they could find, came accessorized with perfectly coiffed hair, costume jewelry and brightly painted lips. I could almost imagine that they were the women in that old photograph! You gals did a fantastic job!
