Last week I was having a visit with my designer, Alison from www.araedesign.com and together we came up with a fun little christmas game for my blog! I can’t wait to read all your creative posts during the game! Soooo what is this silly game, you ask?? Well you know that crazy song…the twelve days of christmas? I was sitting and thinking about the line “10 lords a leaping” and wondered where in the world that line came from. Or “a partridge in a pear tree.” Why a pear tree? Such an interesting song to sing at Christmas.
Soooooo I thought to myself “self, what would a modern day 12 days of christmas song sound like???” Perhaps something like this. “On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, a cartridge for my HP!” Then I thought it would be kinda fun to see what YOU could all come up with. So starting Monday….. each day for the next twelve days will be a different line to get creative with. With every comment posted a donation will be made to Siloam Mission here in Winnipeg. For those of you who don’t know, Siloam is an awesome organization in downtown Winnipeg that serves our homeless and less fortunate. I’ll have a post shortly with more info on them!
So to make sure this is clear here is a little recap:
12 Days of Christmas Contest
1. Comment on my blog for each of the upcoming twelve days of Christmas.
2. All you gotta do is come up with your own lyrics for the song on that specific day. (let’s get creative people!)
(ex: Day one ” On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me a cartridge for my HP”)
3. For each comment posted, $1 will go towards Siloam Mission. So tell your friends!
Sound fun??? Hope so. I”ll share some of my favorite lines that you post. Here is the real song with all the days….
On the twelfth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Twelve drummers drumming,
Eleven pipers piping,
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree!
I’ll send you the go ahead to start commenting on Monday…So start brainstorming!
